Born and raised in Montana, Zach’s journey to Sandra Architecture is rooted in a blend of hands-on construction experience and architectural study. Zach started his work in the residential construction industry as a framer and finish carpenter, eventually moving into the role of project manager on various project types. These formative roles gave him a comprehensive understanding of craftsmanship and building techniques, which he continues to draw upon in his architectural practice.
Alongside this construction experience, Zach pursued an education in Architecture earning both a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture, and is now a registered Architect in the State of Colorado. Prior to starting Sandra Architecture, he worked for over a decade with prestigious firms across Colorado and Montana, where he gained valuable experience executing residential and commercial projects for homeowners, developers, and municipalities.
Zach's academic interests are vast, driving his design philosophies; he gravitates towards anything pertaining to urbanism, place making, and design methodologies and processes. Zach approaches his work with thoughtfulness and precision, always striving to create spaces that resonate with their context and users.
Outside of work, Zach enjoys an active lifestyle with his wife and pup, Marty. (You'll often find Marty making cameos during both the design and construction phases.) Zach also spends time reading and exploring projects that inspire his professional and personal growth.
